Everything You Need to Know About Moncler x Adidas Originals Collaboration
The adventure-driven collection from two activewear powerhouses offers bright puffer vests and a brand-new NMD boot.
Right at the height of Fashion Week, Moncler drops its next collaboration – this time with the iconic creators of the three-stripe look. Adidas Originals teams up with the French luxury brand, dropping a new collection that marries the energetic attitude of Adidas with Moncler’s innovative spirit. In a campaign titled ‘The Art of Explorers’, the two brands come together in their shared passion for activewear that seamlessly travels from the concrete jungles below to the stark mountainscapes.
The pieces from this collaboration first met the public at The Art of Genius show earlier this February at London Fashion Week. The show called different artists from various fields, challenging them to create other-worldly, human-esque explorers inspired by the bright looks in the collection. In ‘The Art of Explorers’, the explorer is first expressed through AI-generated looks, then through a series of mixed-medium sculptures. These human-adjacent sculptures were born from the lenses of artists Gary Card, Ibby Njoya, and Kate Tabor, and are featured in the campaign.
As a nod to both brands, this project uses ‘Where Originality Meets Extraordinary’ as its tagline. Underlining Moncler’s legacy as a powerful pioneer in high quality, utility wear and Adidas Originals’ contemporary influence as a sportswear label, this partnership pushes the envelope of fashion tech.
Working beyond physical parameters, an immersive platform has been created to take this collection into the digital realm. Visitors can explore the vibrant pieces in the collection against the backdrop of the bold cityscapes as featured in The Art of Genius show. Expected to be a cult favourite, the collection’s Moncler x Adidas Originals NMD Boot is also brought to life as an NFT through Moncler’s website and on the Adidas Confirmed app.
Taking inspiration from the bright city lights, the collection taps into traffic-light-toned puffers and sneakers for a dynamic sprint around the metropolitan landscape. Muted shades of dark greens and off-whites bring some balance, for more reflective times in nature. Moncler’s iconic puffer jackets (both long and short) come bearing Adidas Originals forms, such as the adi-break panelling. But the true stars of the show are the shoes. The beloved Campus sneaker from Adidas has been augmented with Moncler’s bubble puff for a shoe that crosses boundaries between fashion, form and function. The NMD boot has also undergone its own Moncler-isation – receiving the classic puffed look, with a winter-toned GORE-TEX treatment for a lush boot that can weave its way out of traffic and into deep forests.
The Moncler x Adidas Originals collection will be available on moncler.com and adidas.com from October 4th and in select Moncler and Adidas stores from October 5th.
