Every Look from Louis Vuitton's Pre-Fall 2023 Collection
Nicolas Ghesquière staged a memorable Louis Vuitton first women's pre-fall show in Seoul.
The historic double-decked Jamsugyo Bridge in Seoul was closed for the day. It was showered in amber hue followed by white, and finally blue. As if to contrast the majestic show scenography by Squid Game director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, Nicholas Ghesquière’s first ever pre-fall womenswear collection for Louis Vuitton took a more relaxed approach. The concept of wearability made sense since the Maison has a history linked to travel.
Flat boots, two-toned denim, and chunky belts were the stars, and enhanced with puffer coats, large windbreakers, and luxe leather pieces. Subtle Louis Vuitton patterns on jackets, eyeglasses, and shoes were juxtaposed with bold hardware belt buckles and slender belts embellished with chains. The unconventional styling variations and proportions kept things fresh and visually interesting. Among the most eye-catching pieces were suits layered with lingerie, furs over dresses, and oversized pyjama-style shirts decorated with plenty of metallic details. If there was one piece that stole the show, it has to be the tailored deep-V top.
