Escape to the Italian coast with Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2022 Collection
Escapism can take many forms and this collection invites you to escape through colour. We round up all the trends from Bottega Veneta's beautiful Resort 2022 collection.
In his final collection for Bottega Veneta, Daniel Lee pulls out all the stops, taking us on a whimsical, visual journey through the colours of the Italian coast. The contemporary collection refreshes various vintage trends and features rich, bright, vibrant shades, azures, neutrals and soft pastel hues. Lee's signature exaggerated silhouettes showcase alongside crochets, knits, sparkly fabrics and touchable textures that will take you through the spring/summer season.
Citrus hues
Reminiscent of the lemons that grow on the terraces that dot the Amalfi coastline, bright and pastel lemon yellows and lime greens feature heavily in this collection, on an eclectic mix of shapes, designs and fabrics. These fresh, citrusy tones hint that spring and summer are around the corner, while paying homage to the brand's Italian heritage.
Look 30 presents juicy shades of lime green with a textured oversized sweater and mini skirt teamed with fuzzy open-toed sandals and an oversized chain clutch. The sweater has the alphabets found in the brand's name knitted onto it. A cute, fun and fresh take on the current 90s monogram trend. The miniskirt replicates Bottega Veneta's iconic intrecciato weave in the form of a knit.
A rich, candied lemon corduroy shirt dress and a sparkly halter trapeze dress (with matching, square-toed block heels) give off a 70s vibe, while the pastel lemon cocktail number with hemmed fringe detail has a 20s feel to it. The dresses provide different textures, silhouettes and a touch of glitz that will take you from springtime strolls to summer cocktails overlooking the ocean in Positano.
Accessories
Pistachio Green
Famed for its pistachios, the island of Sicily is reflected in the rich pistachio tones present in the collection. Concentrated within the shoes and accessories, this almost jewel-toned earthy shade of green is perfect for both spring and summer. In fact, it would not look out of place in a fall wardrobe either, making it a perfect transitional shade to add to your wardrobe.
You will find textured top handle bags, totes and sling bags Bottega's signature intrecciato weave. True to his style, Lee's updated oversized weave features on the popular Cassette Bag, in a textured fur fabric, reminiscent of the fur bags that were popular back in the 00s. The woven leather crochet point bag evokes an Italian summer by the sea while the longer, rectangular-shaped knotted cord bag takes inspiration from the netted bags often used to carry fruit in the markets.
Azures and Neutrals
The azure of the coast and the softer blue of the sky dotted with the whites of clouds. Glimpses of bright silver peek through as well, mimicking the sparkle of sunlight as it reflects off the sea. Whites have, of course, always been a popular colour to wear while holidaying in the Riviera.
The blues and neutrals feature clean lines, crochet knits and boucle fabrics, once again perfect for transitioning from spring to summer. Look 05, in particular, is an effortlessly glamorous summer ensemble featuring a crochet knit halter mini dress, paired with turquoise jewellery encased in caged, silver hoops. An artistic, contemporary interpretation of the shell choker necklaces that were popular back in the 90s and early 00s. The 60s-70s crochet bag trend also gets a refresh in the form of a woven leather, off-white clutch with a geometrically shaped handle. Perfect for warm, summer days.
Look 49 is a kiss of spring. A white, pale, muted green and baby blue boucle coat with a smattering of pink through it is paired with open-toed sandals and Bottega's point bag, both in a matching fabric.
For those sultry summer evenings, look 49 embraces the glitz and glamour often associated with the Riviera. A chic halter dress made in a netted, woven fabric adorned with shiny silver discs that are reminiscent of mermaid scales, adds a touch of fairytale to the collection. To add a more subtle hint of sparkle to your outfit, you will find a 90s-esque shoulder bag and Bottega Veneta's popular strappy, square-toed, tie-up sandals in the same glitzy fabric.

Sunset shades
The spectacular sunsets along the coast are not the only place you will find these pink, red and orange tones. The colourful buildings of the villages perched on the cliffs of the rugged Italian coastline often feature these warm and pastel hues as well.
Look 45 creates a striking, monochrome ensemble. The citrusy terracotta orange feels almost like it has been plucked right out of the 70s while still being contemporary. The brown-toned orange is saturated to a brighter, fresher shade that features on an ultra-cool and incredibly chic bomber jacket style dress. The shine on the fabric adds a little drama and the matching chunky, block, platform heels, add a dose of retro-glamour. The look is softened with a crochet bag in the same colour.
In the true Daniel Lee style, his characteristic oversized design aesthetic appears once again in the sweetest candy pink clutch bag with a textile that amplifies the shape of individual strands of wool. A bolder, bubblegum pink shade is seen on a perfect-for-spring, cosy, cropped Chenille sweater top in look 19, adding to the hues of a cotton candy sky.
