Joy and celebration, as Dries Van Noten reaches a runway milestone
For his 100th show, Dries Van Noten sent out a collection that was typically poised and womanly.
The maturity and sophistication of his clothes was underscored by the casting of several runway veterans and old friends of the brand, and the unexpected appearances of Alek, Amber, Erin, Liya, Guinevere, Carolyn and co. on the catwalk sent social media into overdrive. Although the designer dug into his archives for prints and novelties (long-time followers of his will have a ball playing Guess the Season), the show was far from frozen in the past: in a decade where most high fashion seems increasingly detached from reality, Van Noten’s earth-bound designs remain relevant as ever.
