This time last year, model-turned-actress Camila Morrone was making headlines with her breakout role in the indie flick Mickey and the Bear. Like everyone else in Hollywood (and elsewhere), however, her momentum ground to a halt in 2020 as projects were put on hold due to the pandemic.

After spending her time in self-isolation learning Italian and fostering (and adopting) huskies, the 23-year-old is gearing up to return to work in the new year. Last November, the LA native announced that she would be joining the cast of the Amazon limited series, Daisy Jones and the Six, with production slated to start in early 2021. And as January inches ever closer, she’s itching to get back on set and to work with the Riley Keough-led cast.

But before going back to work, Morrone is kicking off the holiday season with a special Coach campaign. Sitting next to her Christmas tree with mistletoe in hand, she gets into the festive spirit while showing off Coach’s gift-worthy accessories, including a pair of shearling boots and a leather tote. A returning face to the Coach family, the actress is also joined by Jennifer Lopez, Michael B. JordanMegan Thee Stallion and more in the label's "Holiday is Where You Find It" vignettes.

Here, Morrone speaks exclusively with L’Officiel about all things holiday, from family traditions to guilty pleasures, along with filling us in on who stole the show on the set of the shoot.

How will the holidays look different for you and your family this year?

I've never spent a Christmas away from my family, luckily, but it looks like this year work may be conflicting with the festivities. It's a weird time for everyone, and I'm curious to see how these holidays will turn out. I'm not sure where my Christmas is being held this year, and I know that I'm not doing a big celebration, so at least I got to live vicariously through my Coach holiday campaign.

What holiday tradition did you want to reflect in this campaign?

I'm really into decorating the tree. I've done that every Christmas, and it's my big thing with my mother. We pretty much start decorating the tree right after Thanksgiving — we move from Thanksgiving festivities onto Christmas festivities. I've collected a really nice group of ornaments and things to put on the tree that are meaningful. I usually stick to an all-gold or all-silver tree, and then I always add fake snowflakes on top so it looks snowy and Christmas-y.

Are you the type to dress up for Christmas or do you spend it in pyjamas?

I change my Christmas onesies every couple of years, and I usually start the day off in a cute outfit, but by the time I'm halfway through my meal, I go and change into something a little more forgiving. You need clothes that will expand on Christmas.

I heard that someone special made a cameo during the photoshoot...

It's [my dog] Sally's debut! She's never been in front of the camera and she absolutely loved it — it was her big modelling moment. And may I add that she's a rescue, and we should all either rescue or adopt a dog if we have the opportunity.

If you can't be at home for the holidays this year, where would you want your destination Christmas celebration to be?

For the past couple of years, I've been doing it at my home [in Los Angeles], hosting a bunch of people and doing a really big Christmas dinner. Before that, when I was growing up, I always went to Argentina, because that's where my whole family lives. So in order to see my cousins and my grandparents, I would have to travel over and spend Christmas there, which was interesting — it's the opposite season in Argentina, so it's always super hot during Christmas, while here, it's the coldest time in the U.S.

Does your family celebrate any Argentinian holiday traditions?

When I started doing Christmas in America, I realised that you guys open the presents on the morning of [December] 25th, on Christmas Day, which I guess is the way people do it all over the world, but in Argentina, it happens at night on Christmas Eve. Santa comes down the chimney when we're all at dinner, and then we go to the tree and everything is there all of a sudden. So Christmas morning doesn't really exist, or at least, my family has never done it like that.

What's on your Christmas menu?

In Argentina, it's really different, because we don't make candied yams and there's no stuffing. It's a very different type of cuisine. I like what we do here in America, because it's just so much more gluttonous — it's the only time of year that you're going to sit down and eat all this food.

Since I've been hosting my own Christmas dinner, the menu has consisted of turkey and vegan options (I have a lot of vegan friends), as well as the creamiest mashed potatoes you can imagine, candied yams with extra marshmallows, and stuffing. And I always have apple cider — hot and cold. I make none of this, by the way!

Any holiday guilty pleasures?

I definitely love my pumpkin pies — I really go for it during the holiday season! I do a lot of baking , and I also eat a lot of other people's baking. I listen to the same Mariah Carey Christmas soundtrack and Frank Sinatra's holiday album pretty much the whole month. I get pretty lazy in December, so I guess that's my guilty pleasure.
