If you were wondering why you didn't spot any of Alessandro Michele's eclectic offerings at Milan Fashion Week, or if Gucci has skipped out on doing a show altogether, fret not. This season, the Italian house has opted for a change of scenery: its Men's and Women's Spring/Summer 2019 show will take place at the legendary Théâtre Le Palace nightclub in Paris.
Gucci has been hinting at its move to the French capital for a while now. For its Pre-Fall 2018 campaign, the brand transposed its clothes into the middle of the student riots of Paris in 1968; it also showed its Cruise 2019 collection at an ancient cemetery in Arles, south of France.
As with everything Michele has a say in, the new Gucci show location is symbolic. The Théâtre was chosen for resonating with his vision for the Italian brand and because it "gave life to a subculture that has inspired young generations up until today."
