Dior Set to Show Resort 2020 Collection in Marrakech
A cruise show to a designer is like a destination wedding to a Manhattan socialite—the more lavish and unexpected the location, the better. So it came as a pleasant surprise when French fashion house Dior announced Friday that Marrakech would be the getaway-of-choice to debut their Resort 2020 Collection, according to various reports.
After last year’s resort show in Chantilly, France brought a heavy rainstorm and saw attendees held up in rush-hour traffic, the French fashion house decided to go for a more warm-weather, laid-back location for the event. So far, Dior’s announcement proves as the most exciting stop on the cruise show flight list, with Chanel showing at the Grand Palais in Paris for yet another year, and both Prada and Louis Vuitton presenting in New York City. The shows mark a shift from last year, however, when a handful of fashion houses decided to stage their collections in France.
The Dior Resort 2020 Collection, the label’s first major event to take place in Morocco, will show on Monday, April 29.
