As the coronavirus continues to spread across the globe, many famous actors, athletes, and politicians have tested positive for the virus.

Many of them have gone public with their diagnosis, sharing the news via social media and news conferences, which have helped to shed more light on this ongoing disease.

Here is a roundup of the public figures who announced they have the virus.

20 March 2020

Actor Daniel Dae Kim is the latest of celebrities who have tested positive for Coronavirus. After his diagnosis, the “Lost” and “The Good Doctor” actor took to social media to explain the testing procedure, and encouraged watchers to practise social distancing, and shed light on the social issues related to the pandemic.

In the video, which was released just under 24 hours ago, he said “I wanted to let you know I tested positive for COVID-19” and  believes he contracted the virus while filming the TV show “New Amsterdam” in New York City.

He also took the chance to address xenophobia, saying, “please, please stop the prejudiced and senseless violence against Asian people… I don’t consider the place where it’s from as important as the people who are sick and dying.” He ended the video wishing everyone good health and social consciousness.

The actor is currently quarantined in his home in Hawaii.

Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were among the first famous people to be diagnosed with COVID-19. Both actors are 63, and were diagnosed with the virus while in Australia, where Hanks was filming a new film. Although the couple had symptoms specific to the disease, they now feel well, are isolated, and their condition is being monitored.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches," Hanks said in statement on Instagram, "Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers, too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

The new virus test result of the popular series "Game of Thrones" actor Kristofer example Hivju (41 m.) Revealed that he is also infected. In his instagram, Christopher informed him that he was feeling well, with only minor symptoms of the common cold. The actor warned everyone to take even greater care of themselves and those around them, to understand the dangers of this outbreak, and to self quarantine.

Another prominent man infected with the rapidly spreading virus is British actor Idris Elba (47). According to the actor, he did not show any signs of illness, but investigations were conducted when Idris had close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.

Elba has isolated himself and, like others, has urged people to take the situation as seriously as possible, as his example shows that the virus can be extremely insidious.

One of James Bond's girlfriends, actress Olga Kurylenko (40), did not escape the virus. The Ukrainian-born actress is best known for her role with colleague Daniel Craig  in the 2008 James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" and the "Magic City" television series. Olga reported a positive test for COVID-19 on instagram on March 15, the main signs of her ailment being elevated temperature and fatigue, but Olga's illness is not currently severe.

Utah Jazz stars Rudy Gobert , 27, and Donovan Mitchell , 23, also became infected with the new coronavirus, being the first NBA players to test positive for the virus. Following the announcement of Gobert's diagnosis, teammates hinted that Gobert had been "careless in his wardrobe" and had touched both other players and their belongings prior to the test. This event was followed by tests for the entire team and revealed another colleague, Donovan Mitchell, was infected with the virus.

On March 16, actress Rachel Matthews , 26, who was the voice of character Honeymaren in the animated movie "Frozen 2," said she tested positive for the virus and had been in quarantine for the past week.

She had followed quarantine in earlier days, with flu symptoms such as sore throat, headache and fatigue. The test was conducted because Rachel had contact with someone who was diagnosed earlier.

On Tuesday, Kevin Durant, one of the biggest stars in the N.B.A.,announced he tested positive for the virus, making it at least seven N.B.A. players who are known to have the virus.

The N.B.A. has postponed its season on March 11, shortly after learning that members had tested positive for the virus, and was rapidly spreading across the world.
