Sabrina Carpenter Responds to Barry Keoghan Split Rumours
The popstar has opened up about her relationship with the Irish actor, praising their work together while also recalling the challenges of maintaining her privacy.
Sabrina Carpenter, American singer and actress, and Barry Keoghan, Irish actor, have captured hearts with their undeniable talent and magnetic charm. Yet, it is their possible romance that has stirred widespread intrigue, sparking curiosity from both fans and the media. Despite neither confirming the relationship publicly, a series of joint appearances, rumours, and subtle hints have ignited speculation. Now, for the first time, Sabrina has decided to address the whispers surrounding her love life.
After months of speculation, Sabrina has broken her silence regarding her relationship with Barry Keoghan. The two have reportedly been dating since late last year, with their appearance together at the Met Gala only intensifying the rumours. Barry even played the role of Sabrina's boyfriend in her music video for "Please Please Please."
Last week, the rumor mill churned out whispers of a possible breakup between the couple. An anonymous tip posted by Instagram account DeuxMoi suggested the split, sparking further discussion. However, a source close to the couple shared with People that the pair were "on and off," and Barry appeared to subtly address the rumours himself by liking Sabrina’s Instagram post promoting her album and latest song, "Needless to Say."
In a candid interview with The Guardian, Sabrina opened up about the music video collaboration with Keoghan, who is also known for his role in Saltburn. She fondly described the experience as "one of the best I’ve ever had," adding, "I’m so honoured to have worked with such an incredible actor."
Sabrina also reflected on her decision to maintain privacy in her personal life. "In this era of social media, it’s difficult to keep anything private," she admitted. "It’s not what I signed up for, but it’s the reality of the time we live in. [...] I just want to be honest and write about what’s happening in my life as a 25-year-old woman."
Revealing more personal insights, Sabrina shared that when she penned her hit song "Espresso" last summer, she wasn’t involved with anyone romantically. Instead, she viewed the catchy tune as a form of protest, explaining, "At that point, no one was in love with me, and no one was obsessed with me."
