Your First Look at Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik's New Romcom K-Drama ‘Doctor Slump’

10 years after the release of hit K-drama The Heirs, actors Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik are once again working together on a series. This time, the duo will be taking up lead roles in the upcoming series Doctor Slump, a story that follows two successful doctors who are struggling to pull themselves out of their slumps. The two actors recently gave a little sneak peek into the drama, at the script reading season that was also attended by the supporting cast, including Yoon Bak and Jang Hye-jin.

Doctor Slump is directed by Oh Hyun-jong, who also took the reins for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, and written by Baek Sun-woo, the writer of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. The romance drama will show how our two leads will overcome their mutual dislike for the other person, only to find comfort and happiness in each other’s arms. Doctor Slump is directed by Oh Hyun-jong, who also took the reins for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, and written by Baek Sun-woo, the writer of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. The romance drama will show how our two leads will overcome their mutual dislike for the other person, only to find comfort and happiness in each other’s arms.

Park Shin-hye takes on the role of Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist who suffers from burnout. Having only worked hard as a student and as a doctor, Ha-neul doesn’t know how to enjoy her life. Then one day, the workaholic suddenly comes to terms with her unsustainable lifestyle and resolves to live her life more fully.

Park Hyung-sik’s character is Yeo Jung-woo, a star plastic surgeon who graduated medical school at the top of his class. Upon graduation, he quickly rose to prominence as a talented and respected doctor. So when an unexpected medical accident occurs, Jung-woo is faced with the darkest period of his life. 

At the script reading, the production team shared, “[This story of] Yeo Jung-woo and Nam Ha-neul, who spent their most dazzling and most miserable moments together, and the romance that blooms within will deliver refreshing and heart-fluttering excitement as well as relatable warmth.” The drama will premiere next year on January 27.

Both leading actors in Doctor Slump are experienced actors, recognised and adored by both Korean and international audiences for their skills. Park Shin-hye is best known for her roles in The Heirs, Memories of Alhambra and Sisyphus: The Myth. Park Hyung-sik is beloved for his leading parts in Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, Hwarang and Soundtrack #1.
