A duo we didn’t know we needed until now. Miley Cyrus and SNL’s Pete Davidson will be teaming up to front the highly anticipated event on 31 December.

A friendship between Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson shouldn’t come as a surprise – knowing their mutual love for tattoos (they even have matching 'WE BABIES' ones), recreational plants, parties, and more, but it’s still wild to think about. Ever heard of the saying – “same person, different fonts?” That’s essentially them. The underrated duo recently took to 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to announce their partnership for Cyrus’ upcoming New Year's Ever Party and it’s abundantly clear that their chemistry is off the charts, only pre-empting viewers for what’s to come when 31 December comes around.

Held in Miami and aired live on the NBC network, the singer and comedian will be bringing all the fun and laughter to the variety show before the year ends. Viewers can expect to see special appearances and performances by Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Sting, Shirazee, Busta Rhymes, Anderson Paak, Bebe Rexha, Doja Cat, Chloe x Halle, Jason Derulo, Goo Goo Dolls, Pentatonix, AJR, and CNCO as well.

When asked what the reasoning was behind Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve Party this year, the singer had this to say: "One thing I think that gets focused on a New Year's time is what's to come, being optimistic, being hopeful, about all these things that haven't happened yet that we have no proof are going to happen. And we kind of erase everything that did happen and we forget to honour it and look backwards too. Look at even these last two years, it’s been rough, but there are these micro-moments of happiness I’m sure all of us can find.”

On top of that, Cyrus also describes her party as “unique and unconventional,” starting with the fact that it will be held from sunny Miami, Florida instead of a conventionally cold location like New York City during this time. “I don’t like to be cold,” the artist justified, “All these other shows, people are going to have their big coats. Everyone’s going to be shaking and freezing, and I’m going to have no clothes on per usual. (Pete) will be funny and I’ll be naked, and together, we’ve got a show.”

Besides the performances listed above, viewers will be tuning into a show full of comedy (courtesy of Davidson) and a variety of music genres set in one space. “It’s kind of a variety show because there will be so much variety and artistry, and I don’t think one genre is better or more genuine than another,” continues Cyrus. “I think there’s a space for all of it and I want to celebrate and honour all of it.” Better yet, Davidson might even sing at the show if he feels up to it. A splendid way to end off the year, if you asked us.
