Jonathan Anderson is Joining the V&A Museum

Jonathan Anderson, a staunch advocate of art, crafts and design, has just been appointed as trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum by UK Prime Minister Theresa May. 

Anderson is one of the leading fashion designers of the moment; he has been critically acclaimed for his commercial success with his collections for his eponymous fashion brand, and as creative director of the Spanish, LVMH-owned luxury fashion house, Loewe. In 2015, he became the first designer to be awarded the British Fashion Council's Designer of the Year of Fashion for Men and Women.

Besides fashion, Anderson has always been heavily involved in the world of the arts. In 2016, he launched the Loewe Craft Prize, an annual competition aiming to promote artisans and contemporary craftmanship around the world. Through the Loewe Foundation, the British designer also collaborates with global artists and craftsmen, who present their works at Loewe's exhibitions for Art Basel. He also introduced the "Your Picture / Our Future" photography competition, offering young and emerging talents a chance to shoot JW Anderson's campaigns.

It goes without saying that Anderson will feel right at home at his new job at the London museum. He will take up his new role for the next four years. Aside from him, the V&A Museum has also added three other members to its Board of Trustees: international analyst Marc St John, the restorer David Bomford, and art and culture expert Genevieve Davies.
