HyunA Seemingly Announces That She's Dating Former Beast Member, Yong Jung-hyung
The pop soloist posted a photo with Junhyung on her social media causing quite a media stir
A new celebrity couple for the new year has emerged and it's none other than popular K-pop soloist HyunA! The popstar seemingly revealed through an Instagram post that she and former Beast member, Yong Junhyung are currently dating. The photo was of the two at the beach holding hands with a simple couple emoji as its caption. Yong also posted the same photo on his own social media handle, leadings fans and news outlets to think that the two celebrities are seeing each other.
When asked by local new media outlets regarding their relationship status, both HyunA's and Yong's talent agencies, AT AREA and Black Made respectively declined to comment, citing that they are, "not involved in the artist's personal matters". While some fans initially speculated that the photo could be a behind-the-scenes teaser for an upcoming music video, most believe that this is HyunA's way of going public with their relationship as unlike other artists in South Korean media, the pop star had been open and honest about her previous relationships — Having had dated rapper Dawn for several years publicly. She had been one of the few K-pop stars that broke the unspoken "taboo" of celebrities not being able to speak about their lovelife. Hence, she has always been known to be a free-spirited, open and honest person to fans and netizens.
In 2008, following her departure from JYP, HyunA embraced a new chapter with Cube Entertainment, marking her second debut as a vital member of the five-piece girl group 4MINUTE. In a parallel narrative, the 19-year-old Yong ventured into the music scene with CUBE, becoming a part of the six-piece boy group BEAST (which was later renamed to Highlight), a journey documented in the MTV series "MTV B2ST."
Over time, the paths of these two groups intertwined, forging a connection that deepened notably when HyunA embarked on her solo career. Their camaraderie, evident in their flirtatious performances during music concerts, added a dynamic layer to their professional relationship. In a noteworthy 2016 appearance on the variety show Happy Together, both Yong Jun-hyung and HyunA found themselves momentarily flustered when questioned about their bond by the hosts. Despite the surprise expressed by onlookers, the duo's enduring friendship was not lost on devoted K-netizens, making the revelation of their romantic involvement less shocking to those acquainted with their longstanding connection.
While HyunA continued her solo career albeit in other talent agencies, Yong eventually left Highlight in March 2019 after being entangled in part of the Burning Sun scandal, reportedly having been aware of singer Jung Joon-young's illegal filming of illicit videos. Yong stated that he cooperated with the police in interviews regarding investigations of Jung's crimes.
Since that time, Yong embarked on a solo career in November 2022 with the release of his EP Loner. Last year, he further solidified his solo presence by hosting "Loner's Room" concerts in Seoul, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
