In a glimpse into the upcoming K-drama Queen of Tears, the first cast reading featuring the stellar duo of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won was unveiled, setting the stage for a captivating new show to sink our teeth into about love, crisis, and the miraculous resurgence of romance.

Crafted by the acclaimed writer Park Ji-eun, known for her works such as the iconic hit Crash Landing on You, My Love From the Star, and Producer, the drama intricately weaves the tale of Hong Hae-in (portrayed by Kim Ji-won), a scion of the Queens Group conglomerate and the reigning queen of a department store, and Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun), the son of Yongduri's supermarket owner. Their tumultuous three-year marriage becomes the focal point, tracing the arduous journey of reigniting their love.

At the script reading, which marked the inaugural gathering of the cast, the collaborative efforts of writer Park Ji-eun, directors Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won, and the lead actors were brought the characters to life. Kim Soo-hyun artfully conveyed the nuanced emotions of Baek Hyun-woo, intimidated by the might of his wife's chaebol family while maintaining a calm exterior. Conversely, Kim Ji-won embodied the role of Hong Hae-in, the sharp and cynical CEO of Queens Group's department store. The ensemble cast, including Lee Joo-bin, Park Sung-hoon, Kwak Dong-yeon, and others, delivered performances teeming with enthusiasm and immersion, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

Kim Soo-hyun's portrayal of the subdued Baek Hyun-woo, facing the overwhelming power of his wife's chaebol family while maintaining an unfazed façade, stands in contrast to Kim Ji-won's depiction of Hong Hae-in, the sharp-tongued and cynical CEO. Park Sung-hoon injects tension into the narrative with his portrayal of Yoon Eun-sung, an investment expert forming a close bond with Queens Group. While Kwak Dong-yeon, playing Hong Hae-in's younger brother Hong Soo-chul, and Lee Joo-bin, as his wife Cheon Da-hye, contribute comedic relief to the unfolding drama.
