Meghan Markle Hints at Upcoming Hollywood Projects

Following the immense success of Harry & Meghan, Meghan Markle breaks her silence on what to expect from her upcoming film and TV projects

Meghan Markle is finally making her return to Hollywood.

Now that the SAG strike is over, the Duchess of Sussex is moving full steam ahead for her next Hollywood ventures and is already teasing what's to come. While walking the red carpet at Variety's Power of Women Gala, Markle gave insight into how she's feeling about her upcoming projects and what viewers can expect.

She finds herself absolutely "thrilled" to be working again in Hollywood: "This industry is just so special when you see how many women use the platform that they have and just channel it for good," she said. "And I think the more we support each other it just amplifies the work, amplifies our community, and I'm just thrilled to be back in it."

As for her next projects, she stated she wanted to produce "things that make people feel something."

"We have so many exciting things on the slate," she said. "I can't wait until we can announce them but I'm just really proud of what we're creating and my husband is loving it too."

In 2020, Markle and Prince Harry founded Archewell Productions to create scripted and non-scripted content in a multi-million dollar collaboration with Netflix, including their docuseries Harry & Meghan — which currently holds the record for the biggest debut for a Netflix documentary.

Harry & Meghan was also nominated for a Hollywood Critics Award in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.

Despite its success, the docuseries was met with immense pushback, particularly from devoted fans of the royal family, which greatly mirrors Markle and Prince Harry's unsmooth path in Hollywood. Most notable was the Sussex's public collapse of their $20 million Spotify deal.

During the partnership, Markle served as the host for her podcast "Archetypes," where she spoke to close friends and activists to "spotlight diverse perspectives and voices" according to the website. Though "Archetypes" was the top podcast in the United States after the release of the first episode, over the span of a year Markle only released 12 episodes. The lack of content was an allegedly large factor in why the partnership fell through.

But the Sussexes aren't letting these drawbacks hinder them as they look forward.

Relatively recently, it was announced that Prince Harry and Markle will produce their first full-fledged film, creating a screen adaptation of the romance novel Meet Me By the Lake, written by Carley Fortune.

Markle also recently signed on as a client with major talent representatives William Morris Endeavour (WME), which an entertainment expert told Newsweek would "help her rebuild her brand in the industry."
