Everything You Need to Know about Ariana Grande's Engagement Ring
Ariana Grande surprised fans on Sunday with the news of her engagement to her boyfriend Dalton Gomez. She shared a series of photos on Instagram of the couple, as well as her new engagement ring. She wrote in the caption, "forever n then some." While the couple have kept their relationship relatively private, the news has left social media hungry for details on Gomez, the wedding, and, especially, the ring. According to Olivia Landau, a GIA certified gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut, “It looks like a spin on the popular toi et moi two stone ring!" Toi et moi rings feature two stones fastened together to represent two lovers coming together as one. The origins of this style date back to the days of Napoleon Bonaparte.
In the case of Grande's ring, Landau says the two stones seem to be an "elongated oval [diamond] around 2.5 [carats]" and a pearl, both set on a thin gold band, which she ballparks the price tag to be $30-50,000. However, fans believe that the ring itself holds more sentimental value.
Following the announcement, a 2014 tweet from Grande of a pearl ring emerged. "Nonna had a ring made for me w/ the pearl from grandpa's tie pin. she says he told her in a dream it'd protect me. <3," wrote Grande. Since the photo's exhumation, several of the singer's followers believe that the pearl on her engagement ring is also her grandfather's tie pin pearl that her grandmother gifted to her in the form of a ring. This has not been confirmed.
After the announcement, the "7 rings" singer received major support from her family on social media. Her mother, Joan, tweeted, ""I am so excited to welcome Dalton Gomez into our family! Ariana, I love you and Dalton so much!!!! Here’s to happily ever after! YAY! xoxoxo."
Her brother, Frankie also congratulated his sister on Instagram, saying, "I am so happy for you both and so excited to (officially) welcome Dalton into the family! YAY! This is just the beginning of a long-lasting life filled with laughter & love. Ugh. I love you both! HAPPY ENGAGEMENT!"
