8 years into their marriage, two Chinese celebrities have finally decided to call it quits. Actress Zhang Ziyi and rock musician Wang Feng have officially announced, separately, that they are getting a divorce via their individual Weibo accounts.

The couple got married in Hong Kong in 2015, and share two children, a seven-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy. With the announcement of their divorce, rumours of infidelity have been surrounding the couple. However, they maintained that the dissolution of their union did not involve betrayal or disappointment. Both stars have publicly stated that they will continue raising their children together as family members. Wang Feng has two other children from previous relationships.

The 44-year-old Zhang Ziyi and 52-year-old Wang Feng used to share little snapshots of their family life on Weibo but the last year or so has seen near-radio silence from both the actress and singer. Fans started to notice the absence of interaction on the social media accounts of the former couple and things became more heated when a paparazzi Weibo account reported on Monday that the couple had decided to put an end to their marriage.

She was also known as one of the ‘Four Dan Actresses’, a title given to the four most popular actresses from Mainland China in the 2000s.

Wang Feng was the founder and lead vocalist of Chinese rock band No. 43 Baojia Street, which was formed in 1993.
