The eight-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z lends her voice to the audiobook version of the Oscar-winning short film by Matthew A. Cherry

In just eight short years, <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/no-one-does-matching-outfits-like-beyonce-blue-ivy">Blue Ivy Carter</a> has already achieved more than most people would in a lifetime. The eldest daughter of <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/Culture/beyonce-social-isolation-interview">Beyonc&eacute;</a> and <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/Culture/how-much-money-does-rihanna-make-from-her-fashion-empire">Jay-Z</a> was making headlines even before she was born, and besides repeatedly outshining her famous parents with her style and sass, Blue Ivy is also the youngest-ever winner of a BET Award and an NAACP Image Award, thanks to her work on &ldquo;Brown Skin Girl&rdquo;. Now, the rising star adds narrator to her lengthy list of accomplishments, as she lends her voice to the audiobook version of Hair Love, based on the Oscar-winning animated short by Matthew A. Cherry.

Cherry announced the news earlier this week on social media, posting a link to Hair Love&rsquo;s Audible page, along with a seven-second clip of Blue Ivy introducing the book. The touching tale follows an African-American father, Stephen, as he learns to style his daughter Zuri&rsquo;s curls ahead of a very special occasion. The short film not only explores the dynamics of the father-daughter relationship, but also underscores the importance of embracing and appreciating one&rsquo;s natural beauty. &ldquo;Hair Love was done because we wanted to see more representation in animation,&rdquo; Cherry said in his Academy Award acceptance speech. &ldquo;And we wanted to normalise Black hair.&rdquo;

Blue Ivy&rsquo;s involvement in Hair Love carries a particularly profound significance, as she herself was a subject of criticism and cyberbullying because of her natural curls. At one point, there was even an absurd petition going around calling Beyonc&eacute; to brush Blue Ivy&rsquo;s hair &mdash;&nbsp;to which Queen Bey clapped back in her 2016 anthem &ldquo;Formation&rdquo; by singing, &ldquo;I like my baby heir with baby hair and afros&rdquo;. Well, it seems Blue Ivy&rsquo;s having the last laugh now.
