Blackpink's Jisoo, Lee Min-ho & More Kick Off Filming for 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint'
The highly anticipated movie also stars Ahn Hyo-seop, Nana and Chae Soo-bin.
BLINKs rejoice! We finally see some signs of life and fresh news on Jisoo of Blackpink's big screen debut. The much-anticipated film adaptation of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is officially in production, featuring a star-studded ensemble that includes Lee Min-ho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Shin Seung-ho, Chae Soo-bin, and Blackpink's Jisoo, among other notable names. The cameras started rolling in December, bringing to life the captivating narrative of the web novel that has enthralled a global audience.
Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint based on the popular web novel of the same name, introduces viewers to the extraordinary world of Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop). An ordinary office worker with a passion for literature, Kim Dok-ja's life takes a surreal turn when the events of his favourite web novel, 'Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World,' unfold before his eyes, and he becomes the sole bearer of the knowledge of an impending apocalypse.
Under the directorial helm of Kim Byung-woo, most known for his work on The Terror Live and Take Point, the film promises a cinematic spectacle with action set pieces and tense drama. Ahn Hyo-seop makes his big-screen debut, portraying the complex character of Kim Dok-ja, a man thrust into a world where fiction becomes reality. Meanwhile, The King: Eternal Monarch star, Lee Min-ho steps into the shoes of Yoo Joong-hyuk, the main character of the fictional web novel. Endowed with striking looks and formidable fighting skills, Yoo Joong-hyuk navigates a post-apocalyptic world with endless chances to reshape his destiny after each demise. Meanwhile, Jisoo will be playing Lee Jihye — a central character in the fictional web novel who helps Yoo overcome crises through her talent as a fighter.
Chae Soo-bin takes on the role of Yoo Sang-ah, Kim Dok-ja's colleague, embarking on a perilous journey through the fallen world alongside him. She becomes a great source of emotional support for Ahn's character, Kim and the two work together to survive. Alchemy of Soul's Shin Seung-ho and Mask Girl star Nana will be portraying characters from the fictional web novel that the protagonist will meet in real life, seamlessly blend fiction with reality.
Since its announcement, news about the webtoon-to-film adaptation has been rather sparse. Hence, fans of the cast as well as the webtoon were excited when they gto a behind-the-scenes look at the films' script reading session. According to a press statement, the cast, "were 200% immersed in their roles during the session and filled the scene with great passion and energy despite the cold winter weather." The movie promises to be an "epic fantasy masterpiece" and with so much talent behind and in front of the lens. We can't wait!
