Chadwick Boseman's Death At 43 Has Captured The World's Attention

Chadwick Boseman, the actor best known for playing the lead role in Black Panther, died at 43 last friday. The American actor was facing a four-year battle with colon cancer since 2016.  

Boseman's role as king T'challa in Black Panther revolutionalised the American entertainment industry and superhero films, and his death caused shockwaves across the world. One of the testaments to how powerful his impact was felt was that his last tweet, which announced his death, became the most liked post ever in Twitter history.

The post reached 7.2 million likes and 3.1 million retweets at time of writing. "Most liked Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever," Twitter's official account said in a retweet of the post.

Most recently, actress Keke Palmer opened the 2020 MTV VMAs with a touching tribute to the actor, stating he was “an actor whose talent and passion is a true inspiration to all the fans he touched, and everyone he encountered.” “We dedicate tonight’s show to a man whose spirit touched so many,” she continued. “He’s a true hero, not just on screen, but everything he did. His impact lives forever.” 

The news was shared on Friday night on his official Instagram page, revealing the actor found out he had stage 3 colon cancer, which then progressed to stage 4. "It is with immeasurable regret that we confirmed the death of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, and fought against him in the past four years as he progressed to stage 4. " A real fighter, Chadwick persevered for everything, and brought you many of the films that you love so much. From 'Marshall: Equality and Justice' to 'Blood Detachment', 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' by August Wilson and many more, all were recorded during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in 'Black Panther', " said the actor's family. According to the note, he died in his home, accompanied by his wife and family. 

Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born in South Carolina and started his career with a small role in the "Partners of Life" series.After some appearances in series like "Lei & Ordem" and "On-call doctor", he won his first major role in 2009 in "Lincoln Heights".

In 2016, he debuted in the role for which he would be best remembered. In Captain America: Civil War, Boseman first appeared as T'Challa, the Wakandan king who later fights alongside the Avengers. He was later the face of the hit film Black Panther, that forever changed American entertainment industry. Created by Marvel in 1966, the Black Panther was the first black superhero in American comics.
