The Stars Align for The Atelier of Dreams by Dior Beauty
Two large-scale installations take over ION Orchard for an immersive festive display like no other
Located on the ground floor of ION Orchard is Dior Beauty’s installation – The Atelier of Dreams, which promises visitors a bright and merry experience. The two-part installation includes the Dior Enchanted Star, the tallest and largest of its kind in Asia, and the Château De La Colle Noire Pop-Up.
In celebration of the festive season and the house of Dior, the Dior Enchanted Star stands at 15 metres in the heart of Orchard Road. The star is an emblem that embodies Monsieur Dior’s own journey as a couturier and is blown up to spectacular proportions with this installation. On the Dior Enchanted Star stands a constellation of gold, designed by Italian artist Pietro Ruffo. The symbolic stars take their place, dancing around flora, fauna and mythical creatures, orchestrated through Ruffo’s eyes.
Ruffo shares, “For this project, I imagined myself laying on the grass of the Château De La Colle Noire at night, looking toward the north, admiring the constellations around the North Star, the Little Dipper, the Giraffe, the Lynx, the Dragon, Perseus, Cassiopeia...which seem to dance in the sky."
He goes on, “Enchanted by this sight, I can smell flowers all around me. Violet, angelica, gardenia, jasmine, orange blossom, frangipani, magnolia, the scents of rose and myrtle – all these aromas illuminated by the constellations, bringing them to new and magical life.”
For the Château De La Colle Noire Pop-Up, visitors at The Atelier of Dreams can walk through three experiential spaces. The space, named after Monsieur Dior’s own home in the 1950s, contains the Exceptional Chandelier, the Immersive Room and the Dining Hall. Each room is a fantastical display of Dior codes, sparkling amongst constellations. In the Dining Hall, visitors can explore Dior Beauty’s Holiday Collection, and enjoy the Art of Gifting, for a savoir-faire experience unique to Dior. And bringing to life the stars is an augmented reality filter that allows guests to create a starry night sky, just as imagined by Ruffo at the Château De La Colle Noire.
