While they say blondes have more fun, the truth is that whether you've brightened up a darker blonde shade or fully bleached your hair, there's a lot of pressure to frequent the salon to get your roots touched up. While this can be a hassle, follow the stars' lead to be a little more low-maintenance: the relaxed new celebrity hair trend is to let your natural roots show, embracing a grown-out look rather than working constantly to cover it up.

The low-maintenance change started to gain attention when Charlize Theron proudly displayed her dark roots at this year's SAG Awards, even drawing attention to them by placing a diamond bracelet straight down her middle part. "I didn't have time to do my roots," Theron explained on the red carpet.

Famous blondes like Blake Lively, Margot Robbie, and Hailey Bieber have also been experimenting with showing off their naturally darker roots for an altogether sophisticated look. "It is much easier to style, with little maintenance and less visits to the salon," says Stephanie Brown, salon master at IGK Soho, who works with Kate McKinnon. "People are trying to simplify their beauty routines with effortless hair colour."

“Women are more busy now. I think it is a trend that came slowly and became acceptable over time,” adds Rona O'Connor, a longtime colourist who works with Lively. From Ariana Grande to Dua Lipa, get more inspiration to let your roots show in the photos below.
