Get The Look: Backstage at Chanel 2018 Cruise Show

Looking like a Greek goddess is now a few blending brushes and liners away as we take an intimate peek behind the scenes of the Chanel Cruise Show runway

The Chanel’s 2017-2018 Cruise Show re-wrote the verses of classical antiquity, channeling Lagerfeld’s redefined vision of Greece with Hellenic adornments of ancient ruins and Grecian-inspired pieces and accessories shown at the Grand Palais.

The beauty looks spotted on at the show were no exception. Makeup maestro Tom Pecheux brought the ideals of Grecian beauty (think Helen of Troy) to life with Cleopatra-esque feline-flicked black eyeliner with lightly bronzed luminous skin and muted nude lips on the models.

Here's how to emulate the look of a Greek Goddess straight from the runway.

Luminosity is Key

A key step in emulating this divine beauty look is luminosity.

To achieve this, hydrate and regenerate the skin with the Hydra Beauty Micro Gel Yeux and the La Solution 10 De Chanel. With circular motion, disperse the product around the face, targeting especially the eye area, for a smoother application of the base and to avoid creasing.

Buff and blend the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation with the Les Pinceaux De Chanel Retractable Foundation Brush to give your skin that flawlessly radiant finish. Then, add the Éclat Lumière to highlight the high points of the face, dark circles, fine lines, the hollow of the chin as well s the cupid’s bow. Finally, correct any imperfections, dark spots, and discolouration with the Corrector Perfection Concealer.

Go Brows or Go Home

It seems that bold, feathery brows were always favoured, even by Greek goddesses. For the illusion of fuller-looking brows, brush the Le Gel Sourcils from the 2017 Eyes Collection through the brow hairs to create hair-like strokes.

The Perfect Cat-Eye

Undoubtedly, the dramatic eyes stole the spotlight at the Chanel Cruise 2018 show. The models’ eyes were lined with a dramatic and elongated flick at the end, and lined around the duct area to accentuate the eyes with feline sensuality.

To ensure that your eye makeup doesn’t budge, set the lids with the Ombre Premiere in Sable N°28. Line the around eyes’ duct, upper and lower lash lines and waterlines with the Stylo Jeux Waterproof in Noir Intense N°88.

Kissed By The Sun

To warm up the complexion and give the skin the appearance of a sun-kissed glow, apply the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour in Light along the contours and the apples of the cheeks.

Nude & Muted

With this look, Tom Pecheux let the eyes do all the talking. Avoid a clash in the intensity of the lips and the eyes by applying Rouge Coco in Michèle N°468, (bright brownish-red coral lipstick) to enhance the natural hue of the lips. Blot and dab the lipstick on the lips instead of gliding it on for the sheer effect.

Top off your entire look with a classic off-white manicure using Le Vernis Longue Tenue in Blanc White N°548. But first, apply a coat of the La Base and then give your nails that glossy effect with the Le Gel Base Coat.
