5 Beauty Looks from New York Fashion Week
The NYC Spring/Summer 2023 runways gave us some stunning beauty looks. Here are five that you can recreate this season.
New York Fashion Week pulled out all the stops with its beauty looks this Spring/Summer 2023. Unlike previous seasons where dark, defining makeup dominated shows, this season saw more fun and colourful creations on the runways of houses like Peter Do, Tory Burch, Puppets and Puppets, and Deity.
Below, we round up five of our favourite looks, from glitter brows to multicoloured lids for you to recreate this September.
Glitter Brows
We'll never get over all of the wondrous things one can do with their brows. First, it was bleached brows, then shaved, and now, we've gone rouge with glitter brows. As seen on the models of Peter Do's Spring/Summer 2023 show this week, this eye-catching look added a touch of fun to the monochromatic black and white collection of the designer. To recreate this look, brush your brows to the shape you want and glue it down. Allow the glue to sit on your brows for a short while before stacking your glitter on top. To really make it pop, opt for thicker glitter.
Butterfly Galore
Besides the avant-garde pieces featured on the runway by Puppets and Puppets, the show also saw models sporting 3D butterfly stick-ons all over their frames. If you're planning to attend a festival this year – be it Good Vibes, Falls Festival, or even Wonderfruit, this look will be sure to capture the attention of people everywhere. Much like glitter brows, you'll need a good glue to hold the butterflies down onto your skin. We recommend using eyelash glue as it's safer for the skin.
Multicoloured Lids
Puppets and Puppets' SS 2023 show also saw the incorporation of multicoloured metallic lids. Models had different shades of blues, pinks and bronze on their eyelids, with one colour for each. This look is perhaps the easiest to recreate out of all our picks – you simply have to create a good base for your metallic shimmers to stick. To do this, opt for an eye primer that works and lay it down. Next, use your fingertips to pack on your fine glitters and shape them using an edged brush. Lastly, hold it down with a good setting spray once you're happy with your overall look.
Glitter Liner
Following the theme of shimmery beauty looks at SS 23, we now present you with lined glitter. Tory Burch saw models parading their ensembles down the runway with a pop of glitter on their lids. In order to recreate this look, invest in an easy-to-glide glitter eyeliner. Glitter-infused gel pens tend to stay on longer and will smudge less as compared to loose glitter. Once again, remember to set your face after you're done creating your masterpiece.
Decorated Hair
The best thing about scarves is their duality. Besides their function as a piece of fabric to keep your neck warm, scarves also act as a great headpiece for days when your hair's the most stubborn or greasy. There are multiple ways you could do this; by tying it into a braid down your back, using it as a bandana, or simple arranging it around your high pony for a classier feel. To secure it, sneak some bobby pins in and you're just about done.
