In the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, social distancing has become one of the more promising ways to flatten the curve, which means more people than ever are now working from home. But despite all the perks, doing your job (or studies) at home can result in new forms of stress, like finding the right work-life balance or handling an onslaught of gloomy news headlines.

That's why practicing self-care has never been more important. But if you don't know where to start, why not try a DIY face mask? It's one of the easiest ways to take better care of yourself, and even better, you can restock the ingredients on your regular grocery trips. To help you with this, L'Officiel has collated six simple but effective recipes, with ingredients that you more than likely already have in your fridge. Try out these miracle masks at any time of the day, and get ready to rejuvenate your skin as much as your soul.

For Freshness

For fresh and hydrated skin, use the simplest DIY mask recipe of all. All you need is a peeled cucumber, but this time, you won't be putting slices over your eyes. Instead, grind it well until it forms a homogenous paste, adding a few drops of water if necessary to create a smoother texture. Apply in a circular motion to your face, keep the mixture on for a few minutes, then wash off with cold water.

To Calm and Nourish

For this DIY mask, you'll need half a banana and half an avocado (both mashed), a teaspoon of honey, two tablespoons of Greek yoghurt, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Mix all the ingredients together and apply the paste to your skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes before removing with warm water.

For a Detox Treatment

For clean, detoxified skin without too much effort, you will need a tablespoon of papaya and a few drops of lemon. Mix the ingredients well and apply the mask to the face, allowing it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing well with warm water. Remember that different skin types will tolerate ingredients in different ways, so if you start to feel any discomfort, remove the mask ahead of time.

For Exfoliation

Who doesn't love the smooth skin you get after exfoliating? For this simple but effective DIY mask, you'll need a spoon of honey and a spoon of coffee powder. After blending the two ingredients into a paste, apply the mixture to your face and massage gently in circular movements. Let it sit for three minutes, then remove with ice water to seal your pores. If you have dry skin, be sure to massage with even more care.

For a Smooth Complexion

Superfood avocados provide powerful anti-aging effects, especially when it comes to minimising the appearance of fine lines. Knead half of an avocado by mixing it with saline solution, then apply the mask and let it take effect for 20 minutes. Remove with warm water for a smooth complexion that's your skin's version of a clean slate.

For a Covetable Glow

Skin expert Joanna Vargas, who takes care of faces like Julianne Moore and Mindy Kaling, is a master of DIY masks, and one of her biggest hits is bound to give you an instant glow. Blend half a mashed avocado with two tablespoons of honey, two teaspoons of olive oil, and one mashed mango. Let it sit for 20 minutes before washing off. Packed with Vitamin C, this mask has a hydrating and brightening effect, especially when used in tandem with exfoliation.
