Beauty's approach to sustainability is one of the things we value the most at L'Officiel Singapore, and we took that very seriously while judging our awards this year. Here are all of the standout brands and products that have put their money where their mouth is when it comes to ethical production.

TONER

THE FACE SHOP, THE THERAPY VEGAN BLENDING TONER

Meet the first part of The Face Shop’s new two-step vegan beauty range. In biodegradable packaging, this Blending Toner is packed with environment-friendly ingredients like essential oils like sandalwood, avocado and palmarosa. It functions as a serum and toner that prevents the skin’s loss of moisture.

SERUM

CHANTECAILLE, BIO LIFTING+ SERUM

Formulated in Switzerland, Chantecaille’s lifting serum is full of natural origin ingredients such as powerful botanicals and peptides. These actives smoothen the appearance
of fine lines and wrinkles, while moisturising, lifting and firming the skin. The product also defends the skin against blue light pollution.

EYE TREATMENT

CODEX BEAUTY LABS, ANTÜ BRIGHTENING EYE CREAM

The Codex Beauty Labs has become known for creating clinically-proven, plant-powered biotech solutions for the skin with eco-certified and cruelty-free accreditations. Its standout Antü Brightening Eye Cream contains M3 antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and squalane to tackle inflammation and rapid ageing of the skin, all while firming and hydrating. It also reduces the appearance of dark circles around the eye.

MOISTURISER

THE FACE SHOP, THE THERAPY VEGAN BLENDING CREAM

Much like The Face Shop’s Therapy Vegan Blending Toner, its complementary cream is also packaged in biodegradable material. The toner is broken down into two parts — a gel-cream formulation on top, and a hydrating cream at the bottom. A handy spatula is provided to mix the creams. The product is also refillable, and the product’s packaging aims to save the use of plastic by up to 87 per cent.

SUNSCREEN

CAUDALIE, VINOSUN SPF 50+ VERY HIGH PROTECTION LIGHTWEIGHT CREAM
Trust Caudalie to win over the judges with its sustainable sunscreen. Not only is this product free from hazardous ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate, it also shields your skin from UVA, UVB, and photo-ageing in the most eco-friendly way possible; it is biodegradable, non-toxic to marine life, made from recyclable materials, and is, in turn, fully recyclable once finished.

FACIAL OIL

SAGE & YLANG, RADIANCE DEFENCE

Designed with sustainability in mind, Sage & Ylang’s facial oil contains almost 100 per cent plant-origin ingredients like cold-pressed plant oils, organic and wild-crafted essential oils, and COSMOS-certified preservatives for organic skincare. The Radiance Defence is also free from petrochemicals and is biodegradable.

MASK

LUSH, CUP O COFFEE

Lush’s coffee and agave-infused face and body mask will exfoliate and cleanse your skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and restored. The coffee beans used in this product are also sourced from a local roastery, reducing the brand’s carbon footprint due to its use of renewable energies in its production facilities.

HAIR PRODUCT

LUSH, SEANIK

This solid seaweed, sea salt, and lemon shampoo bar doesn’t just smell good, it also increases the shine and volume of your hair. Made using ingredients from the sea, one bar replaces up to three 250ml bottles of liquid shampoo. The fine sea salt is also purchased from Lake Atanasovsko in Bulgaria, supporting biodiversity and providing shelter for more than three hundred species of birds that live by the lake.
