The Celebrities Contributing To Covid-19 Relief Efforts

The coronavirus pandemic will end one day, but it will leave a huge economic problem in its wake. Here are the stars that helping to tackle this economic problem.

As the world is grappling to protect human life under the COVID-19 pandemic, it also leaves huge economic problems in its wake, such as souring unemployment rates. Celebrities have been increasngly stepping up to support those affected by this crisis. Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ciara, Russell Wilson are just some of the big names who have donated to food aid organizations and various other associations.

Apart from the economic aspect, the pandemic is certainly an emotionally trying period. John Legend, Charlie Puth and Chris Martin are supporting people who are in self-isolation with their performances at home. When the whole world is staying in, celebrities have stepped up and used their capabilities to spread good vibes, increasing our sense of unity as a human collective.

Lady Gaga 

Lady Gaga appears to be concentrating her efforts towards fighting the effects of COVID-19, and has even delayed the release of her next album. To date, she has raised a total of $35 million with Global Citizen to provide protective gear for health workers and develop vaccines. 

She also announced that she has co-curated One World: Together At Home, a benefit concert that will be live streamed on April 18, with hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. Apart from Lady Gaga, the special will also feature appearances by Billie Eilish, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Elton John, John Legend, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder.

 

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have stepped up with a US$1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. “Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who's isolated and might need connection,” said Reynolds in an Instagram post, with caption: “I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an asshole. If you’re able to help, visit, @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada.”

 

Justin Bieber 

Justin Bieber announced earlier in February on Instagram that he was donating US$29,000 to the Beijing Chunmaio Charity Foundation, a Chinese-based children's charity. "Watching the news I couldn't imagine how scary it would be if a new disease was affecting my wife and my family and my friends. China we stand with you as a collective humanity and have made a donation to support. Whether it be this or the fires of Australia we all need to be there for each other," he said in the caption of an Instagram post detailing this donation.
