Gwyneth Paltrow And Kate Hudson Spill All On Their Worst On-Screen Kisses
Whatever your opinion on rom-coms may be, there’s no denying the emotional power of the moment when the two leads and love interests finally lock lips. Like that unforgettable kiss in the rain from The Notebook.
As it turns out, however, the reality is far from romantic. At least, according to Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson — and seeing as they’ve starred in over a hundred films combined, including iconic flicks like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Shakespeare in Love, we’d say they’re somewhat of an authority on the subject. Chatting away on an episode of Paltrow’s Goop podcast earlier this week, the actresses dished the dirt on their worst on-screen kisses, bursting our bubbles in the process.
“You know, I feel like I haven’t had the best kissers. I feel like I should have had better ones,” Hudson revealed. She went on to explain that her kissing scenes with Matthew McConaughey had occurred under less than desirable circumstances.
“The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey, it’s like there’s just something happening and there’s like snot or wind, or things are just… Like when we were kissing in the end of Fool’s Gold, we’re like in the ocean, we like had the plane crash,” she said with a laugh. “He just had snot all over his face.”
Paltrow, on her part, opened up about her weird experiences with Robert Downey Jr. in the Iron Man and Avengers movies. “With Robert, like when I kissed him and I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’” the Goop founder shared. “This is literally like kissing my brother.” Sorry, RDJ!
Fortunately, it hasn’t been all bad for Hudson — she disclosed that one of her favourite on-screen kisses was with Almost Famous co-star Billy Crudup. “You know who was a good kisser, but you didn’t see it, because they cut it out? [It] was Billy,” Hudson admitted. “Billy was good. That was good.”
“He looked like he would be a good kisser,” Paltrow quipped.
Well folks, now you know!
