Previously, the coronavirus pandemic threw the Friends reunion plan into chaos, but now, a Friends reunion episode filmed over zoom is in the works, which just may be enough to tide fans over.

All six original cast members, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were originally set to return to the original “Friends” soundstage in it’s Warner Bros. studio in Burbank to air on US channel HBO max. But these plans were forced into hiatus given the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, reunion director Ben Winston and Courtney have captured footage over Zoom, a video conferencing app, with the cast and producers that could be turned into a special additional episode.

The cast had apparently come together to brainstorm for a session they called a mock rehearsal, and contained "some hilarious material on there which they hope can be aired as either a series of teasers, or even a stand-alone special,” a source teased.

No doubt, the coronavirus has thrown our lives in slight disarray this year. And in the latest of cancelled events or activities, Friends has announced that they will not, in fact, reunite for a two hour special.

Rachel, Ross, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey have postponed their reunion special out of concern for the coronavirus outbreak, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were originally set to return to the original “Friends” soundstage in it’s Warner Bros. studio in Burbank.

Filming for the reunion has reportedly been pushed to May or later. this comes as many shows have halted production and eliminated live audiences as a result of social distancing precautions meant to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

At the very least, we still have all ten seasons of Friends available for us to view on Netflix, so that's something we can always look forward to!

The entire cast of the popular American TV series ‘Friends’ will be reuniting for an exclusive, unscripted special on HBO Max, which will be made available to the public in May this year, confirmed HBO in a recent announcement.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will return to the original “Friends” soundstage in it’s Warner Bros. studio in Burbank, and Ben Winston will direct and perform alongside Kevin Bright, Kauffman and Crane.

The six stars will receive at least $2.5 million apiece for participating in this two hour special, according to sources.

The hotly anticipated news was announced by the cast, who shared the same publicity photo on their social media profiles with the caption: "It's happening."

Though the sitcom aired its series finale more than 15 years ago with 10 seasons under its belt, it has retained its place as one of the iconic pop cultural icons in TV history.

Rumours had also been swirling since Aniston shared a selfie with all six cast members on her Instagram account back in October last year. The closest to a reunion was back in 2016 when Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, Schwimmer and LeBlanc sat together for a catch up on NBC. However, Perry was absent from the event, making this special on HBO Max their first official reunion on screen.

We are already looking forward to it!
