Paint The Town: The Givenchy Downtown Collection
When a designer racks up as many travel miles as Clare Waight Keller does, it only makes sense to create the kind of bags that make the journey both smoother and more stylish. And that’s exactly what the artistic director of Givenchy has done. Keller has turned her attention to the men, and developed a capsule collection of functional and travel-friendly urban accessories: the Givenchy Downtown.
Following on from Givenchy’s Bow backpack (first seen in the Spring/Summer 2019 haute couture show), the Downtown series revisits the original design concept, giving it a more masculine touch. The capsule showcases 5 sporty shapes, from a backpack and duffle to a belt bag and crossbody in cylindrical and rectangular versions, which subtly reprise the ‘V’ seen in the ready-to-wear silhouettes.
The entire line is made of nylon with contrasting leather details, and is available in sharp colourways of black and white, with select styles also released in florals or bright red. Each style is finished off with Givenchy’s Heritage label in white, underscored by a swooping red stroke. Scroll to check out some of the pieces:
