A Look at Alessandro Michele and Harry Styles' Gucci HA HA HA Collection
Gucci is pleased to inaugurate the joined forces of the pair, where the unification of partnership and collective ideas form the embodiment of their collaborative efforts, taking their bond up a notch.
The Italian fashion House has always been known for its exciting collaborations, and the alliance between British singer-songwriter and actor Harry Styles is no exception. A match made in heaven, Gucci HA HA HA encapsulates the creative hub of an innovative two-person journey and the amalgamation of the beloved bond between Creative Director Alessandro Michele and Styles. The interdisciplinary approach toward the collaboration sparks the beginning of a jargon that has yet to be categorised. Gucci HA HA HA is more than a printed motif on the label, it defines the exchange of creative expressions and the shared spirit of two different consciences.
HA HA HA is the permutation of the ‘Harry’ and ‘Alessandro’ initials and the vocal imitation of the ‘laughing face’ emoji — a characterisation of the ‘hahaha’ expression that the duo has often found ending their messages with. The synthesis of their relationship saw two friends who shared trips and experiences, displaying sincere revelation and dedication towards each other.
“Harry has an incredible sense of fashion. Observing his ability to combine items of clothing in a way that is out of the ordinary compared to the required standards of taste and common sense and the homogenization of appearance, I came to understand that the styling of a look is a generator of differences and of powers, as are his reactions to the designs I have created for him, which he has always made his own; these reactions restore me with a rush of freedom every time,” says Alessandro Michele.
The lighthearted and complicit friendship was formed from a collection of encounters, stories, similarities, and differences. The playful and liberal collection is a prelude to bringing forth new visions of beauty to challenge gender norms, manifesting an emotive passage on masculine elegance with clothes.
The imaginative connection of the pair gathers a collection with several elements that personify the prowess of the two artists, bringing the sartorial creatives together under the House of Gucci continues to push the boundaries of men’s tailoring. A fusion of Styles and Michele’s aesthetics, elements of English tailoring have been re-envisioned with romantic accents through the eccentric use of kitsch prints. The lineup includes sartorial suits, treated denim jackets, velvet suits in irregular hues, unexpected printed pyjamas and bowling shirts, lined coats with hoods and frog fasteners, and pleated kilts with leather regulating straps.
