The Newest Louis Vuitton x NBA Capsule is One for the Hoops

Grounded by the values of basketball, the third run of the collaborative capsule collection is inspired by travel.

First, we had the marriage of French craftsmanship and American sports. Then we had looks for games, conferences and travel. For Louis Vuitton’s third installation of their collaboration with the NBA, the capsule has culminated in their latest range of travel pieces.

The luggage-centric capsule circles around messages that the late Virgil Abloh held close – of camaraderie, universality and team spirit. These elements are reflected in the pieces in the collection, completely dressed in the NBA’s colours. This third bout of the collaborative line sees the revisit of House classics like the iconic Keepall 55 and Christopher backpack. Basketball netting lines the sides of the Keepall 55, which is further accentuated by the metal details and chains, inspired by the distinct NBA trophy.

Back with a bang, the essential Dopp Kit and Pocket Organizer featured in this collection are given an NBA blue makeover. The new additions to this capsule are the Malle Courrier trunk and an 8-watch case drenched in signature NBA colours and finished with brass hardware. The electric-blue Taurillon leather is monogram-embossed, showcasing a new LV logo in the shape of a basketball – a fitting ode to the league.

The pinnacle of basketball achievements is the NBA Larry O’Brien Trophy. With this capsule, Louis Vuitton has also designed a special case for the trophy awarded to the NBA champions. The case is monogrammed and carries heavyweight closures and fittings, and the interior flaunts the instantly-recognisable NBA blue, with NBA’s 75th Anniversary logo. In keeping with the momentous celebrations of the NBA, Tiffany & Co. has redesigned the Larry O’Brien trophy. Sterling silver lines the net and ball, which have been shifted forward to symbolise the league looking toward the future.
