Podium Lounge Turns 10 With Lewis Hamilton, Boyzlife, Taboo and More
The Singapore Grand Prix 2018 may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that we’re done talking about it — not when one of Singapore’s biggest Formula One after-parties was thrown over the same weekend. Between 14 to 16 September, Podium Lounge pulled out all the stops for its massive 10th anniversary celebration at The Ritz Carlton in Millenia Singapore. Picture this: 10,000 guests, an impressive line-up of world-famous performers, and lots of champagne, all making for one unforgettable event. Below, we list the highlights of each night.
Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden of Boyzlife kicked off the party on Friday night with their highly-anticipated show.
Fans of Westlife and Boyzone were treated to a performance of the boybands’ throwback hits, as well as a first-hand glimpse at Duffy’s and McFadden’s camaraderie. Formula 1 racing icon Eddie Jordan and British Formula 1 racing legend David Coulthard also showed up to Podium Lounge's opening night, dancing front row by the runway of the nightly Fashion Circuit with EGO Brand Apparel and The EGO Lifestyle by Strawn Holmes.
On Saturday night, Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden took over The Podium Lounge DJ Booth.
Madden got the crowd moving his high-octane set, spinning one hip-hop tune after another. Brian McFadden also showed up on the second night, this time joining Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn on stage. Continuing the action on the Fashion Circuit runway, 108 Rock Star Guitars author Lisa S. Johnson presented her debut collection, "Cosmic 108", with a line-up of models that included rising popstar Sevi Ettinger and Danish supermodel-slash-actress Lotus Bech.
American rapper and DJ Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas got the party started on Sunday.
For the final and biggest night of Podium Lounge, Taboo brought the house down with an electric live performance of the hip-hop group’s top hits like Let's Get It Started, before hitting the decks for the rest of the night. The spotlight was also shone on luxury streetwear designer MTHEMOVEMENT, whose collection was modelled by Asia’s Next Top Model presenter Cindy Bishop, Asia’s Next Top Model winner Maureen Wroblewitz, actress Ase Wang and Singapore’s first burlesque artist, Sukki Singapora.
Lewis Hamilton celebrated his Marina Bay Street Circuit win with back-to-back closing sets by Podium Lounge Resident DJs Miles Slater and Patrick Oliver.
The 2018 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix winner was the biggest star of the three-day event, showing up with his entourage to party it up at Podium Lounge's VVIP area. Speaking of stars, there were countless other famous faces spotted over the weekend, including ex-Formula 1 Driver Alex Yoong and Asia's Next Top Model's Adela Mae Marshall, who played hosts on stage on Friday; celebrities Paul Foster and May Wan; radio personalities Yasminne Cheng and Simone Heng; and E! News Asia host Yvette King, who interviewed them all on the Grey Goose Blue Carpet.
It goes without saying that guests of the Podium Lounge left with great memories of the event, but some took home something even more tangible: Formula 1 memorabilia, which was auctioned off at the event by The Helping Hand Group in support of local charities. Several rare and iconic items went under the hammer, including a Lewis Hamilton-signed race glove, an autographed and framed photo of Sir Sterling Moss and an F1 Race Glove signed by the legendary Michael Schumacher.
All in all, it was a successful 10th anniversary celebration that only Podium Lounge could have pulled off — and we're already looking forward to next year's extravaganza.
