Detox cleanse: A healthy brunch at Strangers’ Reunion

The bistro inspired by Melbourne's café scene has renewed its menu to offer healthy, hearty dishes, made from fresh and organic ingredients to help ease the guilt after a season of binging

Every year, we fall into the same routine of enjoying quality time – and food! – with our family and friends, embracing the festive season. But by the end January we usually feel guilty, like we could have gone reined it in with the Christmas sweets.

The healthiest solution is to go on a detox (glowing skin, healthier system, what’s not to love?). Hardly glamorous and exciting, it is not a solution that many would normally embrace. However, that was before the new menu from Strangers’ Reunion was released. Following the revamp of the venue, which reopened in November, the menu has been entirely rethought. Focused on clean eating, and using fresh and organic ingredients, the new listing plays with the classics of brunch to offer on-point dishes.

Another option that is a bit richer is the chorizo croquette with its surprising corn salsa, also served with a poached egg.

More of a sweet tooth? The coconut and chia pudding is both healthy and fulfilling. Fresh fruits, an amazing texture and a definitely Instagram-worthy bowl? It’s more than we could hope for.

Portions are generous, recipes are healthy and the coffee is just great. The kind of detox we could get used to.
