Catch the Inaugural Aussie Film Festival at The Projector this March
In celebration of Harmony Week in Australia, the Aussie Film Festival will be showing four contemporary films at The Projector, only from 17 to 27 March.
Thinking of doing something a little different this March? How about metaphorically transporting yourself to Australia with the help of four contemporary films? Organised by the Australian High Commission of Singapore, the inaugural Aussie Film Festival will be held at The Projector from 17 to 27 March to celebrate the nation’s multiculturalism amid Harmony Week – a week dedicated to the recognition of Australia’s diversity and inclusivity – back in the land down under.
“We are delighted to present the first Aussie Film Festival in Singapore in 2022,” says H.E. William Hodgman, Australian High Commissioner to Singapore. “Through the creative lens of cinema, we shine the light on the cultural diversity and richness of Australia, and the stories of our First Nation Peoples. Timed to coincide with Harmony Week in Australia, the Aussie Film Festival celebrates our multiculturalism. These films are a window into our world and they tell stories that resonate beyond our borders, allowing us to make connections with audiences here in Singapore. We hope that through these films, you will have the chance to experience and understand the many narratives that shape and define our nation.”
Expect to see a Rolodex of assorted films during the period of the festival; adventure film ‘High Ground’ directed by Stephen Johnson, romantic comedy ‘Rhapsody of Love’ and musical ‘Get a Life Alright!’, both directed by Joy Hopwood, and dramatic film ‘The Drover’s Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson’ directed by Leah Purcell. Our advice? Go in blind and let these films surprise you with their impressive and authentic content.
Each film will be screened twice during the course of the festival. To book your tickets, visit the festival’s official website here.
