5 Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day with Your Best Girlfriends
As Leslie Knope once said, Galentine’s Day is all about “ladies celebrating ladies.” As such, here are 5 ways to honour your sisterhood this February 13th.
Forget Valentine’s Day, February is all about the celebration of sisterhood. Coined in 2010 in an episode of ‘Parks and Recreation’, Galentine’s Day has since become a welcomed phenomenon amongst women across the globe.
What exactly is Galentine’s Day, you ask? “Oh it’s only the best day of the year,” says park director, Leslie Knope, herself. “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
Think booze, good company, and the absence of men for a whole day – sounds like a dream. Without further ado, here are 5 ways in which you can commemorate the holiday with your best girlfriends this month.
Cottagecore Galore
Embrace your feminine wiles by holding a cottagecore picnic with your friends this Galentine’s. All you and your girls need to do is dress up in flowy Florence and the Machine-esque vintage gowns, find a cute bamboo picnic basket and load it with all of your perishables to make a day out of it. Our recommendation? Get some plastic glasses, bring your favourite red wine, and head on down to the Botanic Gardens for the ultimate folklore fantasy.
Get Your Drink On
Celebrate singlehood with Lucha Loco’s signature Anti-Valentine’s Day celebrations. If you and your best gal pals are in need of a wild night out, the restaurant’s cheeky ‘Panty Dropper’ aphrodisiac cocktail is sure to do the trick. Infused with a delightful blend of roselle, goji berries, tongkat ali, and strong Arquitecto tequila, get ready to live a night you might just forget.
To make reservations, visit Lucha Loco’s website here.
Get Playful
Make the most of your Galentine’s Day away from the presence of families and children. Starting from 6pm every Thursday to Sunday, the Museum of Ice Cream’s eventful ‘Night at the Museum’ series is sure to get your blood pumping, with a guarantee of a ton of fun activities, booze, and of course, ice cream past curfew. One highlight from the event is Esther Perel’s exclusive card game titled ‘Where Should We Begin - A Game of Stories’, where guests can choose between NSFW and PG13 cards to divulge and exchange secrets in the name of friendly banter.
Tickets start from $48. Get yours at tickets.museumoficecream.sg.

Girls Night In
If you’re not one for long nights out, make like Dua Lipa and her posse and have a chill evening in instead. Consider organising a potluck-style gathering with your favourite homemade cocktails or mixers and conduct some activities afterwards. Some ideas include movie night, collective self-care, board game night, karaoke, and more. The possibilities are endless!
