Cartier Remains the Official Partner for the Venice Film Festival
For the second consecutive year, the luxury jewellery brand Cartier accompanies the 79th Venice International Film Festival, demonstrating its commitment to the arts, music and contemporary film creation.
As a way to support contemporary cinema and celebrate creativity and talent, Cartier remains the official sponsor of the 79th Venice International Film Festival for a second year. In 2021, the Maison partnered with the Biennale di Venezia with the same goal: To pay homage to cinema and the arts.
This year seeks to commemorate outstanding filmmakers with the Cartier Glory to the filmmaker Award, to honour personalities who have made an original contribution to the current film industry. This award will go to the American filmmaker, writer and producer Walter Hill, before the screening of his new film Dead for a Dollar.
Furthermore, the Maison will enrich its collaboration with a special program that will continue to evolve in future editions this year. The house's international conference – Cartier Art Dialogues – will be conducted in the form of masterclasses, featuring the main composers of film music and musicians. It will take place at Venice's Palazzo del Casinò (the heart of the film festival) and will offer a deep insight into the chemistry that exists between sound, image and the creative process behind film music.
As if that were not enough, Cartier will also present some of its iconic pieces that have been exhibited on the big screen or have been worn off-screen by movie stars. The Cartier Collection Cartier & Cinema exhibition includes pieces such as Grace Kelly's engagement ring, a bracelet worn by Gloria Wanson in Perfect Understanding and Sunset Boulevard in 1950, and the alligator necklace made by Maria Felix; a replica of the Toussaint necklace made for the movie Ocean's 8.
