Going Blue: Your First Look At TAG Heuer's New Carrera Heuer 02T
When the Carrera Heuer 02T was introduced to the world at the prestigious Baselworld in 2016, it would quickly become synonymous with its self-winding chronograph movement complete with a flying tourbillon. Five years on and Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer introduces its latest iteration, one that enmeshes the worlds of the Carrera Sport and Tourbillon. And while the debut model sported hues of gold, its successor is a sight to behold in a rich, blue hue – complete with a titanium make.
First things first, the model's unique feature is undoubtedly its blue star-bust dial. The pop of cerulean colour also presents itself throughout the timepiece – such as on its bezel, the crown, the tourbillon cage and even the rubber coating that encases its push buttons. Taking the timepiece's new look full circle, however, is its momentous swapping out of its alligator straps. In its place is a titanium grade 5 H-shape bracelet, accompanied with a clasp – a feature seen on the model for the very first time.
The new model is the very first Heuer 02T iteration that sports a conventional, fully-closed dial – a marked difference from its well-recognised skeleton (open-worked) dial on earlier designs. It also sees a cut out at the 6 o'clock mark so as to have the Tourbillon's function in full view. As for other notable functions, the limited edition and original variations boast the same Carrera Heuer 02T movement: one that oscillates on 28,800 vibrations per hour. Adding to its sleek, modern look is the watch's chronograph functions, self-winding mechanism and flying tourbillon that all sit with its 31mm diameter. The Carrera Heuer 02T is also fitted in a 45mm diameter case, which sits slightly bigger than the TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 44mm from last June.
Just as with its 2016 debut, this new model will come in a limited edition set of 250 pieces.
