TAG Heuer Welcomes Jacob Elordi as its Latest Brand Ambassador
The 24-year-old Hollywood star is the new face of the Swiss luxury House, with a refreshed edition of the TAG Heuer Monaco in honour of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
Following the success of HBO's American Teen Drama 'Euphoria', Australian actor Jacob Elordi has been established as one of the leading talents of the rising generation. Upon landing the male lead of the show, Elordi reveals an audacious and dauntless facade of his character, like the iconic Monaco timepiece — distinctive and rebellious. It is no wonder that Elordi chose to wear a TAG Heuer Monaco with a black dial, white sub-dials, and black alligator strap at the Academy Awards ceremony earlier this year. Elordi’s admiration for the classic and timeless watch that was made famous by silver-screen icon Steve McQueen, in the 1971 racing film Le Mans, has made him the perfect representative of the new generation.
“We are incredibly excited to announce Jacob Elordi as ambassador for the TAG Heuer Monaco. He is the stand-out star of a new generation, an artist who is unafraid to take risks, taking roles that challenge both himself and the audience. He is also someone who comes fully formed with his own strong sense of timeless style. The TAG Heuer Monaco became the watch for a new generation when it was first launched in 1969 and there is no better standard-bearer for it as it continues to be discovered anew by each generation since,” says TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault.
The Monaco Grand Prix, a Formula 1 motor racing event held annually on the Circuit de Monaco is the eponym of the unparalleled square-shaped chronograph after it was brought to screen by McQueen in Le Mans, as a nod to the House’s love for speed. Since its launch in 1969, the Monaco has always been a classic. With every refinement of the timepiece, the iconic shape has never been replaced. As a paragon of ingenuity and innovation, the avant-garde style is one of a kind and unique to the maison. With their exceptional savoir-faire and uncompromising designs, the square cases are cut at right angles and embellished with unscratchable sapphires.
Joining the family, the latest Monaco is conceived in Grade 2 titanium exterior and coated in diamond-like carbon. With a micro-rotor winding system and water-resistant chronograph, the watch is attached with a black alligator strap. The model is reminiscent of one of the most ultra-rare and desirable vintage of TAG Heuer’s, the Dark Lord. The re-edition channels the spirit of the legendary timepiece, contrasted with the riveting thrills of the Formula 1 race.
