TAG Heuer's latest watches are the perfect companion for women on the go
Diving watches are made to be tough. They have to be, especially since they’re meant to be brought along during lengthy undersea explorations. Of course, being practical and tough doesn’t preclude a watch from also being beautiful, or suited for women: TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer Professional 300 watches are living proof that both elements can coexist.
The Aquaracer collection dates back to the ’80s, and has gone through many iterations since. Today, the updated collection brings with it a sleeker, more modern appearance, while making some very thoughtful quality of life changes that make it the perfect watch for adventures both under and above water.
The new Aquaracers for women come in three distinct colourways. First off is the black dial version: With a striking lacquered dial juxtaposed against a black ceramic bezel, it is a faultless classic that will pair with any power suit or weekend getup with ease.
The model with the silver dial brings a slightly classier touch to the Aquaracer – the contrast of the elegant lacquered dial with the black ceramic bezel makes for the perfect day-to-night accessory.
For those that prefer some bling, the version with the blue dial is the ideal choice for that bit of understated glamour. On this model, the dial is home to 8 VS+ diamonds, each weighing 0.078 cts – an impeccable complement to the handsome lacquered face.
All three watches have a case diameter of 36mm, are water resistant to 300 metres, and use TAG Heuer’s Caliber 5, an automatic movement that boasts a 42-hour power reserve. They also feature an enlarged date display at the six o’clock marker for improved readability.
Looks aside, the Aquaracer Professional 300 brings with it a bevy of useful, updated features. Top of the list is the updated case: Shorter lugs and a neater, chamfered edge help to create a much slimmer and sophisticated profile of brushed and polished steel – one that’s also lighter and more comfortable to wear for extended periods. Don’t underestimate the Aquaracer Professional 300’s lightweight construction: The ceramic bezel is also scratch-resistant, making this a particularly sturdy accessory you won’t need to baby.
The watch’s signature unidirectional rotating bezel isn’t just a stylish design choice. Each of the 12 facets of the bezel are fluted, making them easy to grip and turn. The internal tooth profile has been improved, making the mechanism smoother and easier to set – eliminating the need for fiddling about.
The dial is another area that has seen some changes. The hour hand now comes with a wider, more sword-shaped profile (one that’s reminiscent of the last of the beloved TAG Heuer 2000 Series), and a narrower minutes hand. Each hand is also painted in a unique shade of Super-LumiNova pigment – all this so that the watch face is always easily readable at a glance, even in low- light conditions.
The Aquaracer does a wonderful job at combining the best of both worlds: That is, creating a dependable everyday timepiece that also has an unmistakable air of luxury about it. It promises to be the ideal companion for daily use, especially for women who are always on the go.
As Frédéric Arnault, the head of TAG Heuer, says: “The Aquaracer Professional 300 is a watch that will take you beyond the edge. This is, after all, the place where we truly find ourselves.”
