Celebrate Spooky Season with Swatch's New Halloween-themed Watches

The two new watches were inspired by the Day of the Dead, and by pop culture's favourite murderous clown.

Looking for some Halloween-themed wrist candy? Swatch has you covered with their new Halloween capsule collection, which features two new, limited-edition watches.

The first watch has a design inspired by the calavera — the sugar skulls most commonly seen during the Day of the Dead. A matte black case ensconces an intricate skull  on the dial: Come nighttime, the entire watch illuminates in a wonderful geometric glow-in-the-dark print. The glow-in-the-dark feature is charged by sunlight, giving the entire watch a bit of a playful — and somewhat vampiric — quality.

Sugar skulls are often used as a symbol of remembrance.  Traditionally, each skull represents the soul of a departed loved one. They're usually placed on ofrendas, or home altars, and are only consumed at the end of the holiday. These skulls often come with bright colours, broad smiles, and the occasional floral motif — fitting, since the upbeat holiday is essentially a celebration of life, and the beauty — and necessity — of death.

Horror fans will love the second watch, which is a tribute to Stephen King's eldritch monster-slash-clown, Pennywise. Like the other watch, this one also features a chargeable glow-in-the-dark function.

Both watches feature quartz movements and are water resistant to 30 metres.
