Whoever said you can have too much of a good thing clearly hadn’t met Swatch and A Bathing Ape (or BAPE), because the two brands are back with a second collaboration, and once again, it looks set to be a smash hit.

Fusing the Swiss watchmaker’s traditional know-how with the streetwear giant’s disruptive mindset, the recently-unveiled capsule proffers three striking new timepieces that tap on Swatch’s Big Bold line. Audaciously oversized with a 47mm case and doused in a riot of eye-popping colours, this joint effort expresses the confidence of being true to yourself as well as the intrepidity of testing your personal limits.

The Big Bold is given a makeover in BAPE’s emblematic camouflage to create the quartz-powered Tokyo White Multi Camo, Tokyo Black Multi Camo, and Tokyo Gray Multi Camo special editions, with the abstract print rendered in subtle engravings on the watch face in grey, bronze, or gold-tone, and in psychedelic hues of red, yellow, green, and blue on the silicone strap. These bright colours represent the diverse cultures and peoples across the world, who are all connected by their own uniqueness.

Balancing out the maximalist palette, the dial is cleared of all clutter save for the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock markings, a tasteful day-date complication, and a discreet minute track that circles the rim. The hour hand, meanwhile, is tipped with a shrunk-down version of the Japanese house’s Ape Head logo, and the second hand ends with the BAPE STA in miniature. Moreover, a list of cities that inspire both labels circles the bezel in contrasting black or white, featuring metropolises like Tokyo (but of course), Moscow, Paris, and Dubai — Tokyo also appears on one of the loops as a further nod to BAPE’s birth city.
