Passion and Heritage Fuel Vacheron Constantin's Égerie Collection
For centuries, Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin has turned to the stars for inspiration to create exceptional timepieces.
The science of horology stems from a historical understanding of heavenly bodies and its mechanical interpretation – an art that dates back to the Middle Ages, and one that Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin understands well. Their mastery has led them to create a number of masterpieces of great astronomical complexity, forming a link between humankind and the universe.
The beauty of astronomical watches lay in their ability to predict and display a wide variety of particularities related to the movement of the stars and the moon. Some of these functions are able to indicate the different moon phases, predict lunar and solar eclipses, work as a tideograph and to calculate sidereal time – a timekeeping system used by astronomers to locate celestial objects.
A perfect example is the brand’s Égerie collection. It’s one of Vacheron Constantin’s most beautiful collections yet, one that celebrates the union of haute horlogerie with haute couture – an ode to the House’s long-lasting elegance.
One of the collection's most exceptional pieces is the Égerie Moon Phase Diamond-Pavé. Its 18k white gold case sparkles with 246 brilliant cut diamonds, while the dial boasts a total of 510 brilliant cut diamonds. At the centre of the watch, one can find a mother of pearl star, representing the very heart of the Égerie Moon Phase model. This unique timepiece embellishes any wrist with interchangeable night blue straps, one in leather and one in satin.
For a more understated look, there’s the Égerie Self-Winding. The 35mm pebble-shaped case, available in 18k rose gold or steel, is crowned with a slender bezel overstitched with 58 diamonds. A cabochon-cut moonstone flawlessly melds into the overall aesthetic. The numerals evoke fine embroidery while the date – haloed with diamonds – draws upon the tradition of the Vacheron Constantin design.
