Dive Into A World Of Jewellery Wonders With Van Cleef & Arpels
Now that we’re into the fourth week of the “circuit breaker” lockdown, chances are you’re feeling a little stir-crazy at home. After all, there’s only so much Netflix you can watch and Zoom parties you can throw before the ennui sets in, and you find yourself doing something rash like cutting your own hair or giving yourself a tattoo (please don’t). Thankfully, Van Cleef & Arpels knows exactly how to help you beat the quarantine boredom. Backed by the luxury house, the renowned L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts has launched a full e-library of videos that explore the secrets of haute joaillerie, so you can lose yourself in the wonder of that sparkling and enchanting universe.
Founded in 2012 by Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE is the only educational and cultural institution of its kind in the world, dedicated to breaking down barriers in the world of jewellery and watchmaking, and providing accessible, hands-on engagement for people of all ages and backgrounds. Besides its original premises at Place Vendôme in Paris, and a permanent outpost in Hong Kong, L’ÉCOLE has also conducted workshops around the world in cities like New York, Dubai, and Tokyo.
The online series encompasses three main themes — The Universe of Gemstones, Art History Of Jewellery, and Savoir-Faire — and visitors can dive into a wide range of topics from the evolution of engagement rings to the mineralogy of emeralds to the lost wax method of casting metals. All virtual classes are guided by members of the 60-strong team of leading jewellers, historians, gemologists, and industry specialists.
