Cartier Presents Indomptables de Cartier
Cartier narrates the folklore of the future with the interbred creatures of Indomptables de Cartier.
Nobody does dualism like Cartier. It shows in the rugged elegance of Juste un Clou and it shows in the warring motifs of Clash de Cartier. The Parisian jeweller now takes it a step further by cross-breeding the wildlife that’s characteristic of its game reserve. Indomptables de Cartier bears 10 fanciful, hybrid pieces—all instilled with the naturalist hallmark of the House.
Defined by the ultra-realistic design and its precise scale, the collection expertly transforms the bodies of the animals as the giraffe and tiger exchange fur, and the scales of the crocodile adorn the zebra which passes on its stripes to the panther. The bracelets and torques, crafted in yellow or white gold, continue to channel the personalities of the creatures with their powerful volumes.
“With their shapes, colours, forms and effects of volume and stylisation, the bracelets reveal an unprecedented dimension of Cartier’s menagerie and its power. To pull off this tête-à-tête-inspired concept, Cartier deploys a variety of setting techniques. The shagreen diamond setting, for instance, is used to maximise the radiance of the stones whereas the fur setting, which is unique to each animal, is utilised to encircle each stone with elongated and curved metal grains, turning them into fur threads that evoke the coat of each animal.
