A Snowy Spectacle with Van Cleef & Arpels Perlée Collection
Celebrating festive shimmer, Van Cleef & Arpels taps on visual artist Arthur Hoffner to put the spotlight on the iconic golden beads of the Maison's dazzling Perlée pieces
Ever gently glistening, the soft and elegant beads of Van Cleef & Arpels' Perlée range seem perfect for the Christmas and winter season. And so as the year comes to a close, it's only apt that the Maison has tapped on visual artist Arthur Hoffner, who has been a friend of the house for some five years, to create a chic snowy backdrop just so Van Cleef & Arpels' delicate golden beads — an emblematic decorative detail for the brand since 1948 when it appeared on the Couscous and Bagatelle creations — can shine like never before.
"From the beginning, there has been quite a seamless and natural connection between my work and the spirit of this collection, noticeably the geometric aspect and the simple shapes. The Perlée creations and my work also share a sense of lightness and joy. The sphere is a geometric shape that is almost too perfect to be of this earth. It is also an element that doesn't rest on any point and is actually always in motion — I try to recreate this aspect for my work for the Perlée collection," says Hoffner, who interpreted a stylised mountainside village using various geometric shapes, to best showcase Van Cleef & Arpels' iconic golden beads.
