A Rose By Any Other Name: Cara Delevingne Is The New Face Of Dior Joaillerie
Cara Delevingne may have stepped back from modelling a few years ago to focus on her burgeoning acting career, but she’s still one of fashion’s favourite faces. Case in point: Dior has announced that she’s the new star of Dior Joaillerie, the fine jewellery division of the French luxury house. No stranger to Dior – she’s also an ambassador for Dior Beauty – the actress slash model now fronts the campaign for the latest Rose des Vents collection.
“Much more than a muse, the audacious icon is an endless source of inspiration,” says Dior of Delevingne. “Her way of collecting, layering and mixing jewellery with ultra-modern spontaneity reflects her singular personality, cultivates uniqueness, and asserts her many-faceted identity”. Her signature blend of humour and irreverence (and those lush brows!) is the ideal match for the whimsical Rose des Vents line by creative director Victoire de Castellane.
First launched in 2015, the collection celebrates the life of Christian Dior. His childhood home in Granville, Normandy is called Les Rhumbs, after the old maritime word for the 32 edges of a compass rose - hence the moniker ‘Rose des Vents’. And the signature 8-pointed star motif pays tribute to the couturier’s superstitious nature and his good luck charms. The star design (pardon the pun) graces the delicate bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings in the series, enlivened by colourful gems like onyx, lapis lazuli, opal, and mother-of-pearl.
