Versace Brings Elegance With a Playful Edge For Spring/Summer 2025
On the catwalk, pastel coats, retro knitwear and floral patterns reign supreme.
Milan, nightfall. This is how the script for Donatella Versace's Spring/Summer 2025 show begins. As guests enter the Castello Sforzesco at dusk, the grandeur of the venue becomes palpable. Some slow their pace—this time, not because of street photographers—while others straighten their posture, feeling the weight of fashion’s nobility. As darkness envelops the courtyard, the crisscrossed catwalk lights up, setting the stage for an unexpected spectacle.
After last season's sexy-punk vibes, Versace’s Spring/Summer 2025 show brings a more refined, retro aesthetic to the runway. Sky-blue coats, knitwear, and short-sleeved polos with zigzag patterns are paired with rustling floral dresses and skirts, as if the Versace girls have mellowed out after a Sex Pistols-inspired winter. Still, they don’t lose their signature sexiness—waists are revealed, and cardigans are worn directly over bras. Even when they opt for extra-long, loose-legged jeans, that provocative edge remains.
The collection also features suits with hot pants or cropped trousers, and for the evening, knee-length metal mesh dresses, alongside a stunning golden party dress sculpted to the body with a mosaic effect. Will the public embrace this new direction for the brand? Only time will tell.
