Style Guide: Hermès Spring/Summer 2022 Objects Collection

A colour that has been popping up all over social media; green is certainly a trending shade for 2022. Green is a colour that isn't season-specific. Depending on the tone and how it is incorporated, green can be worn all year round making it an excellent, transitional hue to add to your wardrobe.   

Various types of green find themselves offering different moods and styling options. A blue-toned green hue, akin to a dark seafoam, is seen on an elegant, sophisticated, one-shoulder, jersey swimsuit. The one-piece swimsuit is a style that is gaining popularity, oozing old Hollywood glamour both in cut and colour. The thin straps lend a slightly contemporary feel while the geometric embellishment adds an art deco feel, reminiscent of 1920s glamour. This theme continues on to a stunning white gold ring featuring a pastel aquamarine tinged green beryl gemstone surrounded by diamonds. The squarish oval shape of the ring, once again evokes an art deco feel, a nod to the opulence and grandeur of the roaring '20s. 

A more modern, matte emerald green is seen on a swift and Epsom calfskin mix belt. The mixture of leathers create dimension and provide for different textures, lending interest and depth to a look. Apart from defining and accentuating the waist, coloured belts are a great way to break up an all-black or monochrome outfit. They also make a fun accessory when wearing prints with similar or complementary colours. Add it to a monochrome or all-black ensemble as a spot colour accessory or pair it with outfits that have green-toned prints or complementary hues. 

The Boho-Chic trend is definitely one to watch this year. Natural materials, earthy, desert tones and western motifs are just some of the elements that make up the aesthetic. 

Two of the most striking pieces come in the form of a swift calfskin – the horseshoe necklace and bracelet with palladium metal finish. The horseshoe design provides a western element, characteristic of the boho-chic look while paying homage to the Maison's roots as a carriage accessories manufacturer to the aristocracy. Western elements are also seen in the Clou de Forge necklace that displays round eyelets positioned at different levels to create a fringe-like collar, mimicking the fringing often found on western buckskin jackets.    

Sandals and saddle belts present themselves in earthy, ochre-brown hues and natural stones (another distinguishing trait of boho-chic) feature on a variety of rose gold and white gold rings. Pink opal and black jade are paired with a feminine, pink-hued rose gold, reminiscent of a desert sunset and a pale blue chalcedony stone sits on a white gold band, evoking a dreamy, whimsical mood so often associated with this trend.   

Fun bags with unconventionally shaped bodies. Another trending theme that seems to be surfacing for 2022. Hermès has put out four, uniquely shaped gems that are sure to make a statement and add a quirky-chic flair to your outfits. Can you say arm candy?

Possibly the most talked-about of the four is the adorable yet oh-so classy, cylindrical, Maximors bag. Its glamarously contemporary metal handle provides a hint of gleam and coupled with its ultra-chic, swift calfskin body, makes this the perfect little bag for those special events and eveningwear. A unique aspect of the handle is that it takes inspiration from the equestrian bit. Another subtle nod to the house's history, it lends an element of the Victorian era in which Hermès was founded. 

Other charming bag offerings include the funky, fervently Fuschia, fringed Toupet Bag in horsehair and calfskin, the Sabot Bag in butler calfskin and wicker, and from Petit h, the most darling earthenware jar inspired bag. Combining earth and leather, its artisan-crafted terracotta body, inspired by the Provençal or Meditterean olive jars of the 16th century, is adorned with a handle from the Kelly bag. These elements all come together to create an enchanting, fairytale-like minaudière that will add a subtle touch of avant garde to a look.
