We Dissect Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding Look
Once asked about her ideal wedding dress, Meghan Markle pictured her princess-goal: "I personally prefer dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic."
And when the new Duchess of Sussex walked down the aisle of Windsor Castle last weekend in her Givenchy Haute Couture wedding dress by Clare Waight Keller, we witnessed the moment that Meghan's fairytale came true.
Below, we break down HRH Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle's wedding look from head to toe.
Referencing Givenchy's codes, Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller created Meghan's wedding dress using a delicate double bonded silk cady fabric. Meghan's shoulders were gracefully framed by the dress's distinctive open bateau neckline, while a long train flowed behind her cushioned by triple silk organza underskirt. The dress was a picture of understated elegance — a reflection of Meghan's personal style.
Beneath the gown, the bride completed her pure-white look with a pair of pearly silk duchess satin pumps that were based on a refined pointed Spring/Summer 2018 Haute Couture design by Givenchy.
Meghan's five-metre-long silk tulle veil was exquisitely hand-embroidered with flowers, each of which represents a Commonwealth country. This is was to fulfill Meghan's wish to express her gratitude in having the honour to support and work with Prince Harry, who is a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.
The very front of the veil also featured embroidered crops of wheat, symbolizing love and charity.
The bride kept it minimal and sophisticated when it came to jewellery.
Meghan wore a pair of Galanterie de Cartier earrings and a Reflection de Cartier bracelet, both in white gold and set with diamonds.
Adding another beam alongside her three-stone engagement ring, Meghan wore a wedding band made of Welsh gold, which is a gift from Queen Elizabeth.
Absolulely priceless, the crown jewel worn by the bride was a diamond bandeau tiara, which is a Royal heirloom that Queen Mary bequeathed to Queen Elizabeth II.
It is said that this tiara can be traced all the way back to 1893.
Her evening reception look was courtesy of Stella McCartney and Princess Diana's aquamarine ring
Before the royal couple got on their vintage Jaguar E-Type to the evening reception, we caught a glimpse of the bride wearing a Stella McCartney high neck lily white gown, along with another priceless heirloom: Princess Diana's aquamarine cocktail ring.
